About Wellpoint
Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup) — what to know
Wellpoint is the rebranded successor to Amerigroup New Jersey, which became Wellpoint in early 2024. If your member card still says "Amerigroup" we accept it the same way — same network, same benefits, same provider portal under the new name. Behavioral-health services are administered through Wellpoint's national behavioral-health partner; we handle the verification and any prior-authorization paperwork before your first visit.
For Wellpoint member services, call 1-800-600-4441. The number on your card may still be branded Amerigroup; both routes reach the same support team.
What's different about Wellpoint behavioral-health
Wellpoint behavioral-health is administered through Carelon Behavioral Health, the national behavioral-health subsidiary of Elevance Health (Wellpoint's parent). Compared to Horizon NJ Health — where behavioral-health benefits run directly through the MCO — Wellpoint's Carelon arrangement adds one layer between you and the plan. In practice this matters very little: copays, covered services, and provider networks are identical for members at our clinic. We handle the back-office routing on your behalf.
Where it can matter is prior authorization timelines for higher-intensity care like TMS or partial hospitalization. Carelon-administered prior-auth requests sometimes take a business day longer than direct-MCO requests. If you're scheduling TMS through Wellpoint, plan on three to five business days for the approval window — we submit the request as soon as your evaluation confirms TMS is the right call, so the wait happens before the start date, not at the start.
What we treat for Wellpoint members
Wellpoint members come in for the full range of common mental health conditions. Most often: anxiety, depression, PTSD, and ADHD — frequently in combination, especially trauma alongside anxiety or depression. For treatment-resistant depression that hasn't responded to medication trials, TMS is covered after the Carelon prior-auth window described above. We also see teens and children — teen anxiety is the single most common reason a Wellpoint family contacts us.

NJ FamilyCare covers individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, partial hospitalization, and crisis services. Specific session limits and prior-authorization requirements differ by MCO — see the [NJ FamilyCare benefits handbook](https://www.njfamilycare.org) or ask us at intake. Is there a copay for therapy if I have Medicaid?
No. NJ FamilyCare members pay $0 out-of-pocket for therapy and psychiatry visits at Positive Reset Eatontown. There's no copay, no coinsurance, and no deductible for in-network mental health care. What is the No Surprises Act and how does it apply?
The No Surprises Act (CMS) protects you from getting an unexpected bill for in-network care. At Positive Reset Eatontown, we verify your insurance benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly what you'll pay — no surprise bills. If you're a self-pay patient, you'll receive a Good Faith Estimate before treatment begins. See our [No Surprise Billing](/insurance/no-surprise-billing/) page for the full policy. How do I verify my insurance before booking?
Call us at (732) 724-1234. Have your insurance card ready — we'll need the member ID, group number (if any), and the plan name on the front of the card. We verify benefits in 5–10 minutes for most plans, or within 24 hours for plans that require a callback to the insurer.Do you accept Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup New Jersey)?
Yes. We accept Wellpoint, which became the new name for Amerigroup New Jersey in early 2024. If your member card still reads "Amerigroup," we accept it the same way — same network, same benefits, same provider portal under the new name. Wellpoint administers behavioral-health benefits through Carelon Behavioral Health, the national subsidiary of Elevance Health, so prior-authorization decisions (for TMS, for example) can take one extra business day compared to in-house MCO administration. We handle that paperwork for you.
