Therapy and psychiatry for Howell residents

Our Eatontown office is about 20 minutes northeast of Howell via Route 33 or the Garden State Parkway. Howell is the largest township in Monmouth County by area; drive times within Howell to our office vary from about 15 minutes (eastern Howell, near Freehold) to 25 minutes (western Howell). Telehealth across all of New Jersey is available for therapy, psychiatry, and medication management — particularly useful for Howell residents whose schedules don't fit the commute.

Bilingual care for Howell's Spanish-speaking community

Howell has a substantial and growing Spanish-speaking population. Several of our clinicians offer therapy and medication management in Spanish — tell our intake team your language preference on the first call and we'll match you with a clinician who can see you without a translator. Cultural fit matters in mental health care, particularly for trauma, family-system work, and intergenerational concerns.

Conditions we see in Howell patients

Our clinicians treat the full range of common conditions: anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and postpartum depression. We also see substantial teen volumes — Howell's school district is one of the largest in the county. For teen anxiety, teen depression, and teen ADHD, our adolescent clinicians work in person at Eatontown and via telehealth across NJ.

Insurance accepted for Howell residents

Howell has a more economically diverse insurance mix than the average Monmouth County township. We accept Medicaid (NJ FamilyCare) and all 5 NJ FamilyCare MCOs alongside Medicare, Tricare, and most major commercial plans. NJ FamilyCare adoption in Howell is meaningful; we are in-network with every MCO. See all accepted plans for the full list.

What to expect on your first visit

The first visit is a 60- to 90-minute evaluation. Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and a list of any medications you're taking. Most new patients are seen within 7 to 14 days. If you'd prefer telehealth from home, tell our intake team — we set the first-visit format to your preference.

What’s specific to Howell

What's specific to Howell

Howell is one of the largest townships in Monmouth County by population (~52,000) and area. The economic and demographic mix reflects that scale — established suburban neighborhoods, working-class areas, growing Latino populations particularly along the Route 9 corridor, and a smaller Hasidic Jewish community in some sections. Each population brings somewhat different concerns to clinic, and our intake team has experience matching patients to clinicians whose practice fits their specific situation.

For Spanish-speaking patients, the practical questions matter: a clinician who can hold a session entirely in Spanish, the right cultural framing for family-involved care, and benefits coordination when household insurance is complicated. We have several Spanish-speaking clinicians; bilingual session availability is usually within one to two weeks.

For working families with school-age children in the Howell K-8 and Freehold Regional High School District, we provide diagnostic letters and ongoing documentation for 504 plan and IEP requests. The formal accommodation process is the school's responsibility; we support the family's case with the clinical documentation.

The drive from Howell to our office is meaningful enough — 15 to 25 minutes depending on where in the township — that telehealth is a fully reasonable choice for ongoing weekly therapy and medication-management visits. The first visit is sometimes more useful in person; tell our intake team your preference and we'll plan accordingly.

Local FAQ

Questions from Howell patients.

  • Do you accept NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid)?

Yes. We accept all five NJ FamilyCare managed care organizations: Horizon NJ Health, Aetna Better Health of New Jersey, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New Jersey, Wellpoint, and FidelisCare. NJ FamilyCare members pay $0 out-of-pocket for therapy, psychiatry, and medication management at our clinic. You'll need your member ID card for your first visit; we verify your eligibility before you arrive.
  • What does NJ FamilyCare cover for mental health?

NJ FamilyCare covers individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, partial hospitalization, and crisis services. Coverage of telehealth, inpatient care, and substance use treatment varies by MCO and plan tier. Specific session limits and prior-authorization requirements differ by MCO — see the [NJ FamilyCare benefits handbook](https://www.njfamilycare.org) or ask us at intake.
  • How long until I can be seen?

Most new patients are seen within 7–14 days of their first call. Telehealth visits often have shorter wait times than in-person. If you're in crisis, call us — we triage same-week appointments for active safety concerns where appropriate, or refer you to crisis resources if our outpatient setting isn't the right level of care.
  • What languages do you offer therapy in?

English is our primary language. We have clinicians who also offer therapy in Spanish, and limited availability in other languages — call us at (732) 724-1234 to ask about a specific language and we'll match you if possible. For other languages, we can sometimes coordinate with a certified medical interpreter.
  • Can I bring someone with me to my first visit?

Yes. Many people bring a partner, family member, or friend to the first visit, especially for evaluations. The clinician will ask whether you want them in the session itself or in the waiting room — either is fine. For minors, a parent or guardian must be present to sign consent at the first visit. ---
